Fewer washes

Hang up your training clothes at once when you get home from your workout session so they have time to dry or until it's time to wash them. It is usually enough to air sweats and wash only after using the garment several times. If you wash sweats too often, the fabric may get burls or the garment will lose its shape and color.

    Prepare for washing

Turn the garments inside out before washing them. It helps prevent the color becoming dull and prevents the outer layer from rubbing against other garments in the wash. Pull up zippers so they don't get caught in other garments in the machine and tie the strings to keep them from slipping out. Then your clothes will last longer!

    Use a laundry bag

Put synthetics in a laundry bag to reduce microplastic emissions when washing. When synthetic clothing is washed, it releases tiny plastic fibers that end up in wastewater and can ultimately pollute lakes, oceans and other ecosystems. Laundry bags like the Guppybag trap these microfibers, preventing them from reaching watercourses. A laundry bag also protects the clothes from wear and tear during washing, which prolongs their lifespan and contributes to more sustainable consumption of clothing.

    Correct dosage

Use the correct amount of detergent. Using too much detergent can lead to it not being fully rinsed out, which both wears out clothes and can cause problems if you have sensitive skin. Skip fabric softener when washing training clothes because it clogs the pores in the material causing the breathability to deteriorate while tearing the fibers loose and causing the release of microplastics.

    Wash cold

Wash functional clothing, hoodies and sweats at low temperature and choose a gentle program to keep their properties for longer. Washing at colder temperatures also uses less energy.

      Air-dry

Feel free to air-dry on a flat surface on a towel. This is a gentle way of keeping the fabric soft and also saves energy. Avoid tumble dryers, especially on high heat, as this can stretch out the fabric and change the fit.
